Ever since I started my monthly project, I’ve been getting such encouraging words from my own family, clients and friends. Some have gone on to start their own projects, and for some it was a reason to book a family session. I’m very touched by the words of encouragement my family, clients and friends shower me with, as I’ve always been more comfortable behind the lens then in front of it. This project makes me realise more than ever the importance of capturing family images which will be treasured for a lifetime.
This month’s family portrait of us was my sister in law’s idea and also captured by her. Both our children are grown up and yes you guessed right… We don’t have a single image of both our families together?! So we made a plan, went out to the forest in Zeist and spent a lovely afternoon just being us.
Capturing memories of precious moments is so special and they make excellent gifts, would you like to surprise your mother with a special gift of a portrait session? Let’s talk.

Booksmarks & Family Portraits.03.30.12
It’s that time of the month again! After having miserably failed last month, I was more than determined to get back on the project and make sure I had some family portraits to share. We’ve had beautiful bookmarks designed by Tim Bond to accompany our book, which we’ve been sharing with hotels and shops around town. And as always, if we are working on the weekends, my herd comes with me. Perfect opportunity for family portraits, if I have the cooperation needed that is… You see, it’s a monthly thing now this family portrait and my son is starting to get the gist of it, and when that happens, I need to start bribing. More on that in another post!

Whoever thought this book would be an all consuming experience…Hi’s and low’s, good times and challenging times. It started off with a coffee date at the end of summer last year right up until today 16th March- Six months of thinking of the book at all times. My heart is filled with so much gratitude. Persephone for asking me, each and everyone who has supported us and cheered us on to do our best. Such a heartwarming experience.
Thank you.

Chef’s Little Helper03.09.12
When Veronica invited us over for a day of cooking we were delighted! Veronica has an online food and travel journal and what makes her blog special is not only her recipes but how her travel stories are weaved into the dishes she creates. Surprisingly little V didn’t eat any of the mini’s pizzas but made his own version to eat at lunch.
Countdown on the book launch has begun, and since the beginning of this year we’ve been living, eating, and breathing this book. I was extremely grateful for this lovely afternoon doing something “different”. I would love to hear activities that you take on in the vacations with you little one.

Defeated by Busyness03.02.12
A month into my project, and my declaration of a monthly family portrait crumbled. I had ample opportunity, but I let busyness defeat me. I wallowed in self-pity for a day and finally came across this:
“If you failed yesterday, strive to win today. If you were defeated today, strive to win tomorrow.”-Ikeda
So, here I am re-determining my commitment to capturing my family portraits every month and sharing them. Anyone care to join me? I’m sure supporting each other will help greatly.

A Personal Project01.27.12
My first love has always been travel photography. That’s why I was extremely delighted when Persephone Abbott (aka The Bee) asked me to collaborate with her on a book of Gouda.
As a photographer I’m constantly looking out for beautiful locations to have sessions in and that is how I’ve looked at Gouda, from a lifestyle photographer’s point of view. Truly, a gorgeous city.
Combined with Persephone’s impeccable research and her “outsider” view of an insider set me on a lovely journey exploring the city I have been living in for 12 years.
Places, sculptures, and gorgeous architecture I have passed by and never given a second thought to, have all of a sudden come alive.
I’m so excited to announce our book, a culmination of both our blogs, a guide-magazine on Gouda; The Bee’s Tour of Gouda, Buzzing Through Vinita’s Lens is scheduled to be out in March 2012!
We have a Facebook page set up and have been sharing updates over there, so please hop on over and have a look.
A huge thank you first of all to Persephone for this wonderful opportunity and to all of you who have been extremely supportive and encouraging in this whole experience! I hope you enjoy the teeny tiny sneak of the images that will be published in the book!
p.s. Forgive me for I must share my suffering of the art I’ve been subjected to in this post! (just couldn’t resist!)

Leap of Faith…01.20.12
Having a little one running around here, I’m time and again subjected to Disney movies.
One of my all-time favourite is Finding Nemo. Apart from being called Dory by my nearest and dearest (yes I forget what they just said), I just love Dory’s character. Her words of wisdom strike a chord.
Yesterday, I sent out my first postcard to people who signed up for the list. It was a nerve wracking moment, wondering whether people would take to it or not. I went through the motions of all things that could go wrong. It was time to let go and press send.
That’s what Dory says:
I’m delighted to say I got some really nice reviews on it and will continue to send them every month. If you would like to receive News & Tidbits straight to your inbox please sign up here.

The Weather…01.06.12
Living in The Netherlands, we spend a lot of time thinking and talking about the weather. As a lifestyle photographer who relies on natural light, I’m constantly wondering about the weather especially a day before a session.
In the middle of the stormy weather we have been having, I thought to myself, what if I just embraced the weather we are have having no matter what?
Don’t forget to sign up to the list to receive news and tidbits through out the year with a couple of surprises thrown in.

The Magic of Christmas12.23.11
This is the time of the year when my city of Gouda is transformed into a magical fairyland of lights-A winter wonderland (without the snow of course!) where you can walk through the city and take in the beauty of it all.
Here is a quote from Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch stole Christmas and this is kind of how I feel at the moment…Where did the year go?
“How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas filled with happiness and joy. Whatever your plans may be, don’t forget to take a moment to take it all in and enjoy yourself!
